** On the weekend of the Bath-Bristol Premiership playoff semi-final, we had another great visit from our friends at Hannover’s Odin rugby teams.
They watched the match on the coach coming over (Bath won), then went to Winchester on Saturday for the ladies’ teams to play in a sevens tournament, where they were delighted to come fourth out of 10 teams.
Combined men’s teams of Odin and North Bristol RFC
On Sunday they played a match against their weekend hosts, North Bristol RFC, the latter winning, but a fine set of presentations followed the match.
The Lord Mayor Cllr Michallat with captains Elsing and Wurlitz
On Monday during a reception at City Hall by the Lord Mayor, Cllr Henry Michallat, they were shown the Council Chamber, the conference hall, and the Lord Mayor’s Parlour, with the ceremonial sword.
After a brief visit to Bristol Cathedral, they went on a tour of Bristol in their coach, guided by our good friend and blue badge guide, Liz Gamlin (also Chair of Bristol’s link with Porto): this took them to the old city, the Downs (where everyone was delighted to see the ice-cream van!) and finishing at the SS Great Britain.
The Odin ladies’ team
On the Tuesday it was home to Hannover but they have been promised a return visit from North Bristol RFC, so that looks like a great new partnership.
