** Having led a small group of Wikipedia enthusiasts on a visit from Hannover to Bristol in 2023, Dr Carola Schelle-Wolff, former head of both Hannover city library and the city archive, was asked by the Lower Saxony Historical Society to organise a larger trip this year.
She organised this with Dr Sabine Graf, President of the Lower Saxony Regional Archive, and so a group of around 20 historians spent a week exploring Bristol and its environs.
They came by coach, which made their very full programme easier – this included visits to Bath, Wells, Glastonbury, as well as Filton Aerospace, Bristol Cathedral and some fairly comprehensive walking tours around Bristol and the harbour.

We also put them in touch with Rob Pritchard of Bristol Historical Association, who gave them a talk on Bristol during the Second World War, and led one of the walks round the old city walls.
Ian Turner and Ann Kennard were very pleased to be invited to dinner with them on their first night at their hotel, and we had some useful discussions about the past and future partnership between our two cities. At the end of a busy week, the participants were happy to have gained a comprehensive picture of Hannover’s partner city and the surrounding region.
