On Sunday December 7th, more than twenty members and friends of Bristol-Hannover Council enjoyed Wurst and Bratkartoffeln, washed down by a couple of mugs of Glühwein, at the Weihnachtsmarkt at the Podium in Broadmead, Bristol. The Weihnachtsmarkt, which is brought to us from Osnabrück (not far from Hannover), has gone from strength to strength in the few years it has been with us. After a difficult start several years ago on Castle Green, later in the City Centre, managers Harry and Tina have worked hard with the City Council so that it has become a popular place during the Christmas period for Bristolians and visitors to come for a lively lunch, the traditional ‘Pyramide’ showing the Nativity scene, and lots of stalls with traditional German toys, confectionery and decorations. A novelty this year was the Beer Garden, so we all trooped upstairs and had a great view over the festivities. Below are BHC members enjoying their lunch!
