Dear friends in Bristol,
I send you some photos from Hannover in this very special time and I hope you will have a little bit of joy.
In the city we have some Christmas Markets, one of them near the station at the Ernst-August-Place. At the wooden stand you can buy many sweets – watched by King Ernst August on his horse.
Every year children come to the shop window of the Galeria Kaufhof. They have so many fun with the soft toys in very different scenes.
In the photo here you can seen a castle with many figures all in motion.
A very big attraction every year is the 18m high wooden pyramid, situated at Kröpke. There you can have a mulled claret or two or three (!).
In our flat we a have little pyramid, 50cm high. The six candles will give a romantic light. In the background you can see a “GB” from a sticker of the Norfolkline when I crossed the Channel via Dunkerque – Dover in 2007, my last cycling trip to Bristol.
The Advents candlestick with the four candles is a tradition in every year.
Lastly I wish you a merry Christmas with the Santa sitting on the chimney, the song of “When Santa stuck up on the chimney” I sang with the Barbers Spirits in the past. Maybe some of you remember our chorus from the Farewell Party in 2017.
With best wishes from Hannover and I hope to see you next year in Hannover for the 75th Anniversary
Hans
