From 28th July to the 2nd August, BHC hosted a group of six Hannoverian citizens, members of the Hannover-Bristol Gesellschaft, who were invited at that time in order to enjoy the Bristol Harbour Festival! Our guests stayed in the homes of members of BHC in and around Bristol, and had a great time at the Festival, including a visit to the new Museum for Bristol, ‘M’ Shed, which they had last seen before it closed as the Industrial Museum.
During their stay, they also visited Stourhead, and were welcomed to a reception with the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress at the Mansion House, and had a guided tour of the newly refurbished Arnos Vale cemetery. The two organisations also had a combined committee meeting at the Avon Gorge Hotel, when they discussed future plans, in particular the visit of Bristolians to Hannover in 2012 to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the twinning! The visit was rounded off with a splendid celebration dinner at the HMS Flying Fox, when the Deputy Lord Mayor also attended.
